description

The nature reserve is located northwest of Göttingen . It places parts of Weper , Gladenberg and Aschenburg under protection. The individual partial areas are on the Heineberg northeast of Fredelsloh , on parts of the Weper between Fredelsloh and Trögen , on the Gladeberg south of Hardegsen and on the Aschenburg west of Harste . The nature reserve serves to protect outstandingly distinctive and very species - rich semi -arid grasslands and semi -natural deciduous forests .

The semi- arid lawns, which are predominantly developed as gentian-schillergrass lawns, are relics of a formerly extensive hating landscape . Partly they harbor significant orchids deposits , including Lady's Slipper , Military Orchid , three-toothed orchid , marsh orchid , early purple orchid , fragrant orchid , Ophrys Apifera and Fliegenragwurz . In addition, there are other, sometimes rare, plant species, including the great anemone , common cat's paw , gentian , grape chamander , small-flowered hornwort , Lorraine flax , silver thistle , real moon rue , field quail wheat and various mosses and lichen species , for example Fulgensia fulgens , Cladonia foliacea and Toninia sedifolia . The semi-dry grasslands are the habitat of some rare butterfly species , including Chalkhill Blue , Large Blue , small blue , Hamearis Lucina , Speedwell Fritillary and plum Hairstreak . The sand lizard is also native here. Perennial borders, but also dry bushes with hawthorn and sloe can be found in many places . Species-rich grassland has developed in places . Ruchgras and meadow cumin, for example, settle here . The areas are habitat for the butterflies chess board and golden eight .

The forest communities are partly formed as beech forests in the form of woodruff-beech forest and partly also as orchid-beech forest. Species-rich bedstraw, oak and hornbeam forests , which have emerged from previous use as coppice and medium-sized forests , are sometimes faltering . The forests have a high proportion of old and dead wood . The beech forests are dominated by the common beech . These partially joined ash , serviceberry and Norway maple . In the herbaceous layer of the beech forests, yellow monkshood , Turk's union , white forest bird and finger sedge settle depending on their characteristics . In the oak-hornbeam forests falter common oak , sessile oak and hornbeam , associated with other tree species. Shrub and herb layers are typical of the location. For example, hazel root and Turkic union occur.

The forests are home to numerous species of bats . They are of particular importance for the great mouse-eared mouse . In addition, numerous birds of prey and woodpecker species are native here, including the red kite and the gray woodpecker . The nature reserve is the habitat of lynx and wild cats .

The semi-arid lawns are grazed with sheep and goats for maintenance.
