The Holzberg, Denkiehäuser Wald, Heukenberg is a nature reserve in the town of Stadtoldendorf and the communities of Deensen , Heinade and Wangelnstedt in the district of Holzminden and the town of Dassel in the district of Northeim .

General

The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 150 is approximately 810  hectares . The largest part is part of the FFH area “Holzberg bei Stadtoldendorf, Heukenberg”, the part of the nature reserve in the district of Holzminden is also largely part of the EU bird sanctuary “Sollingvorland”. To the north-west and north-east it largely borders on the "Sollingvorland-Wesertal" conservation area . The previous 375 hectare nature reserve " Holzbergwiesen " in the district of Holzminden and the previous 42.5 hectare nature reserve " Heukenberg " as well as parts of the nature reserve "Sollingvorland-Wesertal" merged into the nature reserve "Holzberg, Denkiehäuser Wald, Heukenberg". The area has been under nature protection since December 20, 2018. Responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Holzminden and Northeim.

The nature reserve is located southeast of Stadtoldendorf. It includes parts of Hasenberg and Waseberg, slopes of the Holzberg , the Heukenberg and the wooden mountain meadows between Holzberg and Stadtoldendorf.

Heukenberg

The nature reserve places stagnant forests on the limestone of the Holzberg, the Denkiehausen Forest and the Heukenberg and adjacent, large-scale grassland complexes on the upper slopes of the mountains under protection.

The forests are extensively characterized as natural canyon and slope mixed forests with the common beech as the dominant tree species. They are joined Pointed and sycamore , ash , rowan and wild service tree . In the herb layer settle u. a. Ehriges Christophskraut , perennial silver leaf and common worm fern . Furthermore, wood anemone , yellow wood anemone , Ordinary Goldnessel , Oxlip , Solomon's seal , wood violet , forest Bingelkraut , woodruff , wild garlic , Carex sylvatica , forest millet , melica uniflora and forest Barley find. Settle in crevices and a. Asplenium Trichomanes , Fragile bladderfern , Kalkblaugras , deceit tooth moss, poplar short sleeve Moss , Real Silk Moss , Smooth Necker Moss , Small Krzywousty moss and small rock cress . Forests and rocks on the steep slopes in the northwest of the Holzberg are largely untouched. Orchid-beech forests are pronounced on particularly dry, warm, shallow locations . They are mostly left to their natural development. In the herb layer are u. a. White Waldvöglein , dark red helleborine , Epipactis microphylla , Cowslip , milkweed , Fingersegge and find Kalkblaugras. A special feature in the nature reserve are occurrences of the yellow lady's slipper . Streams are fed by tufa springs where u. a. Starknervmoos settles. The streams are lined by narrow riparian forests with alder and ash and tall herbaceous vegetation. In the herbaceous layer of the alluvial forests, u. a. Carex Acutiformis , hairgrass , exchange and Opposite-leaved golden saxifrage , Avens and mountain prize . The forests in the nature reserve have a high proportion of old and dead wood .

The forests are often followed by extensive grassland complexes, which are divided on the upper slopes by hedges , bushes and field trees. Here settle oat grass , Cowslip, Oxlip, Campanula patula , Galium Mollugo , autumn crocus , Upright Brome , Salad Burnet , lady's mantle , meadow sage , Schlitzblättriger Hainhahnenfuß , spiked devil's claw and black medic . Sometimes orchid-rich limestone grasslands are u. a. formed with pinnate twigs , upright bristle, golden thistle and small meadow button. In the wooden mountain meadows in the northwest of the nature reserve, which are mainly used as meadows and pastures , lime spring swamps with small and large sedge beds , moist tall herbaceous meadows and reeds are formed. Here u. a. Schuppenfrüchtige Gelbsegge , Broad-leaved cotton grass , marsh orchid , marsh trident , Parnassus , Marsh Helleborine and Squeezed source rush .

The nature reserve is a habitat and a. for wild cats , the bat species great mouse- eared bat and lesser whiskered bat , the bird species black , gray and small woodpecker , eagle owl , red and black kite , black stork , red backed kite and gray heron , the reptile sand lizard and smooth snake , various types of butterflies and various snails , including the narrow diaper snail .
