The Osterberg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon town of Polle in the municipality of Bodenwerder-Polle in the Holzminden district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 118 is 25.5 hectares in size. It is completely from the conservation area surrounded "Wesertal". The area has been a nature reserve since April 23, 1987. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Holzminden.
The nature reserve is located south of Polle and puts an abandoned limestone quarry under protection, which lies on a slope slightly sloping towards the Weser valley. Various layers of shell limestone emerge in the quarry, which is up to eight meters deep .
The quarry is characterized by rock faces, isolated cliffs, scree slopes and plateaus . The shallow areas of the quarry are occupied by semi-arid limestone grass. Dry bushes and pre-forest stages can be found on the medium-sized areas and the edge areas.
