The Weser lowlands on Heiligenberg is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Heyen in the joint municipality of Bodenwerder-Polle in the Holzminden district .

The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 225 is approximately 7.3 hectares. The 5.97 hectare FFH area "Quellsumpf am Heiligenberg" is part of the nature reserve. The area in the nature reserve designated as an FFH area is at the same time largely part of the EU bird sanctuary “Sollingvorland”. The reserve borders the sacred mountain of parts of the conservation area, "Solling foreland Wesertal". The area has been under protection since June 30, 2016. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Holzminden.

The nature reserve is located north of Bodenwerder at the foot of the Heiligenberg as part of the Weserbergland . It places an area in the Weseraue between the banks of the Weser and the Heiligenberg under protection, which is characterized by an elongated spring horizon with numerous near-natural streams, spring areas and tufa springs . Lime spring moors have developed along the spring horizon . Here is u. a. the bellied diaper snail is native. The striped spring damsel also finds a suitable habitat in the nature reserve. In the floodplain area of the Weser there is a flood channel system.

Oak-hornbeam mixed forest and woodruff-beech forest grow on the damp sites . The oak-hornbeam forest is characterized by the characteristic tree species common oak and hornbeam as well as winter linden . The shrub layer is mainly made up of common hazel and hawthorn . Wood anemones , woodruff , chickweed as well as single-flowered pearl grass and forest flutter grass can be found in the herb layer . The beech forest is composed of red beech , ash , sycamore maple , bird cherry , pedunculate oak, hornbeam and quivering poplar . Shrubs and herbaceous layer are of spindle tree , Athyrium filix-femina , skipjack Wurmfarn , Woodruff, Common Goldnessel , Solomon's seal , Einblütigem melic and Carex sylvatica formed.

In the north-west of the nature reserve there is an alder-ash alluvial forest traversed by spring rivulets . The riparian forests are primarily formed by common ash and black alder . The banks of the Weser are accompanied in places by Weidenauwald. Here the joined elm it. Shrub and herb layers are u. a. of Common Hasel , Carex Acutiformis , Winkelsegge , Festuca gigantea , Resenschmiele , Hainampfer and High cowslip formed. In particular, the alluvial forest areas have a high proportion of old and dead wood with cave trees.

In the nature reserve settle reed reed beds, reed canary grass reed beds and stocks of glandular Spring herb . Moist tall herbaceous corridors , etc. a. with common butterbur and common bindweed can be found. Furthermore come u. a. Narrow-leaved Merk and bitter foam cabbage before. The nature reserve is u. a. Habitat of owl , red and black Milan , gray and black woodpecker , Schwarzstorch , Graureiher and Neuntöter .

A path that can be entered runs along the foot of the Heiligenberg. The spring moors and their surroundings are regularly mowed to keep them open. In the nature reserve, non-site-typical forest stands are to be converted into site-typical stands in the long term.
