Kleines Bruch and Düsteres Bruch is a nature reserve in the area of the Lower Saxon town of Holzminden and in the non-parish area of Boffzen in the Holzminden district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 187 is 51 hectares in size. It is located in Solling between Neuhaus im Solling and Boffzen within the Solling-Vogler Nature Park . Its western part, the "Kleine Bruch", is in the municipality-free area of Boffzen, its eastern part, the "Düstere Bruch", in the municipality of Holzminden.
The area is characterized by a birch forest on a drained peat layer up to one meter thick, which merges into the surrounding beech forest with extensive bracken stocks. Partial areas are also made with spruce trees that are not typical of the location . These are to be converted into naturally occurring deciduous forest communities.
Peat moss can be found in the moss layer , while the shrub layer is characterized by blueberries , gray sedge and pipegrass . In addition , areas marked by rushes indicate swelling outlets in the peat body.
In the forest area between Neuhaus im Solling and Boffzen, ponds were created in several places. In the Kleine Bruch there are several of these small bodies of water, which have since developed close to nature, in the nature reserve. Furthermore, a wild meadow can be found here, which, like the small bodies of water, should develop independently. The area is drained westwards to the Weser via the Rottmünde .
Since July 23, 1998 the area is under nature protection. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Holzminden.
