The Mühlenberg near Pegestorf is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipalities of Pegestorf and Brevörde in the joint municipality of Bodenwerder-Polle in the Holzminden district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 048 is 15.5 hectares in size. It encompasses the somewhat smaller FFH area DE-4022-301 of the same name and is partly part of the EU bird sanctuary DE-4022-431 “Sollingvorland”. The area has been under nature protection since May 22, 1937 (originally with around 8 hectares only in Pegestorf). The area was expanded by a new ordinance of October 24, 2016. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Holzminden.
The nature reserve is located west of Pegestorf. It provides an exposed south-facing limestone rock face at one undercut slope of the Weser and adjacent forest areas under protection. The rock face as part of the Weser cliffs near Steinmühle is characterized by rock grass, which is predominantly blue grass grass, and warmth-loving bushes. Areas between the rocks are occupied by oak-hornbeam and beech forests as well as mixed forests. A special feature is the occurrence of the Russian bear , which is the only known occurrence in Lower Saxony.
