The southern Burgberg slopes are a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon communities of Bevern and Golmbach in the joint community of Bevern in the Holzminden district .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG HA 166 is 83 hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area "Castle Hill, Hein Sener cliffs Rühler Switzerland" and the EU bird sanctuary "Solling foreshore" and complete the conservation area surrounded "Solling Vogler". The nature reserve has been a nature reserve since March 31, 1994. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Holzminden.
The nature reserve is located north of Bevern within the Solling-Vogler Nature Park . It puts the southern slope in the western area of the castle hill under protection. This is characterized by limestone grassland from the partially skimmed extensively as grazing is used, is broke fallen in part. In order to counteract the encroachment of the poor grasslands, they are grazed with Scottish highland cattle and pied mountain sheep. Some old fruit trees can be found.
Grow to upper slope towards predominantly natural, mesophilic limestone beech as the Weserbergland are typical. There are wild fields in several places . Dry bushes and fringes of herb rich in flowers grow along the country lanes and at the edges of the forest . In the nature reserve settle u. a. White Waldvöglein , Male orchid , Common Frans gentian and Cowslip . The area is habitat and a. for the Roman snail , insects , including many butterflies , and spiders .
