The Idtberg is a nature reserve in Lower Saxony spots Delligsen and the unincorporated area Grünenplan in the district of Holzminden .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG HA 229 is 192.4  hectares in size. A large part of the protected area is also part of the FFH area "Ith". The 19 hectare nature reserve “ Unter dem Idtberg ” has merged into the nature reserve “Idtberg”. The area has been a nature reserve since March 2, 2018. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Holzminden.

The nature reserve lies roughly between Alfeld (Leine) and Stadtoldendorf im Hils as part of the Leinebergland . It places extensive beech forests on Idtberg and Ziegenrück as well as the south-facing slopes of the Kleiner Idtberg and parts of the Hohen Heimberg and Höltgekopf under protection. The forests are characterized by woodruff and orchid beech forests. In the west of the protected area there is a small area of ​​grove beech forest. In the area of the Little Idtbergs a through increased low- and middle forest usage incurred bedstraw Oak hornbeam forests . The beech forests are of the red beech dominates, which in the Woodruff-beech forests common ash , wild cherry and sycamore , the orchid beech woods serviceberry , leaved lime , hornbeam , European ash and maple join. In the herbaceous layer of the orchid-beech forests, lady 's slipper , red forest bird , brown-red stendrod and small-leaved stendrod settle . The oak-hornbeam forests are primarily formed by pedunculate oak , sessile oak and hornbeam. These are joined by u. a. Common ash, field maple , bird cherry, service tree, wild apple and linden. Hazel and hawthorn grow in the shrub layer , the herb layer is z. B. of milkweed , Mercurialis perennis , Real cowslip , Big chickweed , forest orchard grass and Einblütigem melic formed.

The forests in the protected area have a high proportion of old and dead wood . Parts of the forests are no longer subject to forestry use as process protection areas . The nature reserve is a habitat and a. of lynx , wild cat , dormouse , red kite , black stork , red-backed shrike and other species of birds and many species of bats , including the Greater mouse-eared .

There are several forest trails that can be used through the area . In the area of ​​Höltgenkopf and Hoher Heimberg, the nature reserve borders mainly on other wooded areas, on the northern slope of the Idtberg, on the goat back and on the Kleiner Idtberg, as well as to the south, it borders on agricultural areas, and in small areas on wooded areas. At the Kleiner Idtberg, the nature reserve borders directly on the local area of Kaierde .
