geography

The Geiersberg rises south of the hamlet . The Haundorfer Forest borders in the southwest. A community road runs through the village, which joins the B 466 north of Obererlbach (0.7 km east) and leads to the AN 59 district road (1.1 km north) after Winkelhaid .

history

The place was first mentioned by name in the Eichstätter Salbuch from 1300 as "Premendorf". The defining word of the place name is the nickname Brem (e), which denotes an annoying ( mhd. "Brëm" = brake, stinging fly) or grumpy person ( ahd. "Brëman" = hum). The founder of this settlement must have had these characteristics. The place belonged to the estates of the castle Wernfels and at that time consisted of six fiefdoms and a farm. Originally there was also a church near Bremenhof. In 1407 the place consisted of only three estates, in 1510 there was only one deserted individual courtyard, which was called "Premenhof". Nothing remains of the church. The farm was not operated again until 1615. The " Keeß Hof " was also created as an extension .

Towards the end of the 18th century, the Bremenhof received the number 23 of Winkelhaid when the houses were numbered . The estate had the caste office Spalt of the Hochstift Eichstätt as landlord. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the Justice and Chamber Office Windsbach .

In the geographic statistical-topographic lexicon of Franconia (1799) the place is described as follows:

Bremenhof, between Obererlbach and Winkelheid, 2 hours west of Spalt, there are 3 Einödhöfe in the Windspacher Oberamte, of which the furthest one is called Bremen, or Bremenhof, and belongs to the Wernfels Spalt care office in Eichstatt. Not far from there is the Bremmenloch. "

As part of the municipal edict, Bremenhof was assigned to the Mitteleschenbach tax district formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Mitteleschenbach, founded in 1810 .
