history

In the 13th century, several gentlemen were wealthy here, such as the lords of Absberg , Heideck , Pleinfeld , Sulzbürg and Seckendorff . From 1280 to 1370 these goods were acquired by the Ballei Franken of the Teutonic Order in Ellingen . In 1792 the parish priest Franz Xaver Zinsmeister donated the parish of Obererlbach, which until then had been the Filialkirchdorf of Mitteleschenbach. With the Rhine Confederation Act in 1806, the place fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the municipal edict of 1808, Obererlbach was assigned to the tax district Kalbensteinberg in the Pleinfeld district court . In 1811 Obererlbach became an independent rural community and on October 1st of the same year came to the Gunzenhausen district court. In 1846 there are 42 houses, 70 families and 284 residents in Obererlbach. In 1875, 298 people lived in 81 buildings with seven horses and 69 cattle.
