The castle Breitenau is an Outbound medieval moated castle instead of the Church of St. Stephen in Breitenau , a modern suburb of Feuchtwangen in Ansbach in Bavaria .

history

In the 14th century, two noble families appear in Breitenau, the lords of Breitenau, who had their seat in Breitenau instead of today's church, and the lords of Pfaffenangst, whose castle Pfaffenangst is said to have stood on the nearby Marxen mountain. On Jan. 31, 1334 a Heinrich von Breitenawe is named as surety for Kunrat von Ellrichshausen zu Haundorf when selling goods to the Spital zu Dinkelsbühel. Towards the end of the 14th century, a Feldner family is said to have owned the manor house in Breitenau. To the west in the garden of the church you can still see the site of the former castle.
