history
The place name is derived from the castle, whose owner Eberhart von Rosenbergk is first mentioned by name in 1398. The castle name is a fantasy name that does not refer to a real situation, as was still common until the 13th century. From this it can be concluded that the castle was probably only built in the 14th century.
Rosenberg was owned by the Lords of Vestenberg zu Rosenberg from the beginning until this line died out in 1586 with the last descendant, Ritter Crafft von Vestenberg zu Rosenberg and Elpersdorf . At that time, the small section castle was already in disrepair. Only the castle stable (today a ground monument ), some ramparts and a round corner tower ruin made of bubble sandstone (two-storey, with pointed arch windows and loopholes on the upper floor) as well as moat and wall remains have been preserved.
