Burghausen Castle

The Burghausen Castle is an Outbound medieval moated castle from the type of a motte (moth) on the southern outskirts near the Altmühl transition in Burghausen (behind house no. 8), a modern district of the municipality Windelsbach in Ansbach in Bavaria .

The castle was probably built in the 10th or 11th century, as the village of Burghausen developed around the tower hill castle at that time. The patrician family of Ebner von Eschenbach , first mentioned in a document in 1251, is named as the owner of the castle .

The square castle complex with forework was protected by a surrounding water supply, fed by the Altmühl, and wall, of which remains have been preserved.
