Butzon & Bercker GmbH in Kevelaer is a family business that is already being personally managed by the owners in the fifth generation. What began in November 1870 by Franz-Hermann Bercker with an artisanal bookbindery near the Kevelaer Gnadenkapelle has developed in more than 140 years of company history into a modern group of companies that occupies the fields of books, art, cards, bronze casting and services and is firmly in has remained rooted in Christian tradition. In 1874 the house entered into a partnership with the manufacturer Hermann Butzon. In the following years, art workshops (1901) and a book printing company (1918) were integrated into the company. The Bercker Graphical Operating GmbH has been an independent subsidiary.

The publishing house Butzon & Bercker has been publishing primarily literature and non-fiction books on Christian topics since 1874 and has made a name for itself especially in the field of religious books for children and young people. In 1949 Edmund Bercker senior received a publishing license. In the same year "Berckers Kleine Volksbibliothek" and the "Katholische Taschenkalender" were introduced. In the 1970s, Butzon & Bercker was a founding member of the Engagement Publishing Group . In 1991 the Lahn publishing house was bought. Magazines were also published from then on. In 1996 the shares in Bernward Verlag were sold. The Niederrhein delivery center was founded in 1998. In 2003 the Groh-Kartenverlag was acquired.

Christian art and religious handicrafts have a long tradition in the pilgrimage town of Kevelaer and form the second core area of ​​Butzon & Bercker GmbH. The program of the Butzon & Bercker art workshops ranges from bronze crosses to Christmas cribs and comprises a total of more than 4,500 religious articles. Since October 2002, this segment has been supplemented and expanded at the same time by the Butzon & Bercker Cards division, whose high-quality congratulatory and postcard program is known beyond the religious market. The cleve art-line division, on the other hand, has specialized in artistic bronzes since 1995 and stands for innovative ideas and meticulous handwork "made in Germany".

While the "Bercker Graphischer Betrieb" printing company was sold by the Bercker family to Ulrich Schurer in 1998, the Butzon & Bercker bronze foundry founded in 1957 continues to be a cornerstone of internal production. In addition, she takes on the support and production of special artistic casts for external clients and enjoys a good reputation among artists.

Another area of ​​Butzon & Bercker GmbH is the service sector. In 1997, the delivery of books and art was professionalized and expanded to the delivery center Niederrhein (AZN). With individually tailored services and comprehensive personal customer care, the AZN has firmly established itself in the medium-sized market. In 2017, the Niederrhein delivery center (AZN) became the Bercker delivery center (AZB).
