C. Meyer Zulick

Conrad Meyer Zulick (born June 3, 1839 in Easton , Pennsylvania , †  March 1, 1926 in Asbury Park , New Jersey ) was an American politician ( Democratic Party ) and from 1885 to 1889 Governor of the Arizona Territory . He is known for reintroducing Mormon suffrage in the Arizona Territory.

Zulick studied law and was then inducted into the New Jersey Bar in 1860. During the Civil War he was a Colonel in the Union Army . He later decided to pursue a political career. He ran for governor of the Arizona Territory in 1885, was elected, and held the office until 1889. During that time, he helped build a dam and water irrigation projects throughout the state of Arizona. He also signed the resolution to move the state capital from Prescott to what is now Phoenix . After serving as governor, he was a member of the Arizona Territory Council in 1890. He died on March 1, 1926 in Asbury Park and was buried in Easton.
