Salari ( Russian Залари ) is an urban-type settlement in Irkutsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 9,600 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).
geography
The settlement is located in southern Siberia in the foothills of the Eastern Sayan , about 200 kilometers northwest of the Oblast capital Irkutsk on the Salari river of the same name , which flows about 30 northwest into the gorge of the Bratsk reservoir on the Angara .
Salari has been the administrative center of the Salari Rajons of the same name since 1925 .
history
A village in the place of today's Salari has been known since 1751. It was created at the beginning of the 18th century in connection with the construction of the Moscow tract .
In 1899 the Trans-Siberian Railway passed immediately north of the town.
In 1957 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement.

Economy and Infrastructure
Salari is the center of forestry and the wood processing industry. There is also a small machine factory (forestry equipment) and food processing companies.
The place has a train station on the Trans-Siberian Railway (km 4989 from Moscow ), where a freight connecting line branches off to Nowonukutski, 25 kilometers northeast .
The M53 trunk road from Novosibirsk via Krasnoyarsk to Irkutsk, part of the Trans-Siberian road connection , also runs through Salari . The road follows the old Moscow wing on this section. In Salari, the regional road R420 branches off via Balagansk (on the left bank of the Bratsker reservoir, which is around 2.5 kilometers wide; car ferry) to Schigalowo, almost 300 kilometers away on the upper reaches of the Lena .
