Cadaval is a small town (vila) in Portugal . On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Cadaval and Pêro Moniz were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias do Cadaval e Pêro Moniz . Cadaval is the seat of this newly formed community.
history
Finds prove a prehistoric settlement. The current place was probably built after the Reconquista . King D. Fernando gave Cadaval its first town charter in 1371 , which King D. Manuel renewed in 1513 .
In the first half of the 18th century, the Real Fábrica do Gelo ( Portuguese for: royal ice cream factory) was built here, which supplied the royal family with ice cream.
Cadaval County was dissolved in 1895 before being restored on January 13, 1898 . Today is a public holiday.
