Caldwell Edwards (born January 8, 1841 in Sag Harbor , Suffolk County , New York , † July 23, 1922 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1901 and 1903 he represented the state of Montana in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Caldwell Edwards attended his home public schools and then worked as a salesman and accountant in retail. In 1864 he moved to Bozeman in the Montana Territory . There he worked in agriculture and ran his own ranch. Politically, he joined the Populist Party . This short-lived party was particularly popular among farmers in the western United States in the late 19th century. Between March 4, 1901 and March 3, 1903, Edwards represented his state as a member of Congress . In 1902 he did not stand for re-election. After that he was a member of the House of Representatives from Montana until 1905 .

After his political activities Edwards devoted himself to his private affairs again, especially his ranch. He died in 1922.
