Ronald Charles Marlenee (born August 8, 1935 in Scobey , Montana , † April 26, 2020 in Bozeman , Montana) was an American politician . Between 1977 and 1993 he represented the state of Montana in the US House of Representatives .

Early years

Ron Marlenee attended Daniels County's public schools . He then studied at Montana State University in Bozeman and at the University of Montana in Missoula . He also attended the Reisch School of Auctioneering in Mason City , Iowa . At home in Montana, he became a rancher and farmer.

Political career

Marlenee became a member of the Republican Party . In the 1976 congressional elections, he was elected as their candidate for the US House of Representatives. There he represented the second constituency of Montana between January 3, 1977 and January 3, 1993. Up to this point in time, the state of Montana had two members of the US Congress . As a result of the 1990 census, the state lost one of its two seats. In the 1992 elections, Marlenee ran unsuccessfully against John Patrick Williams of the Democratic Party , who had represented Montana's other constituency in Congress since 1979. This made Williams the only congressman from Montana, while Marlenee lost his office. This then withdrew to Scobey.
