Canterbury sound
The Canterbury Sound is a musical style that is closely related to Progressive Rock .
The style originated in Canterbury, England in the early 1960s . The term was later expanded to include other bands stylistically in the same direction.
Especially in the aspects of the variety of sounds and the willingness to experiment, there is a great proximity to progressive rock. The biggest difference is probably the more jazz-oriented , less bombastic and z. T. more humorous playing style of Canterbury.
A characteristic feature of the Canterbury scene can be cited that there is a close internal interdependence between the groups involved. Members of the style-defining bands often found themselves together in new constellations and were part of groups that emerged later.
