Caro Kiste Kontrabass (also spelled CaroKisteKontrabass ) is a band from Kassel .

history

In 2009, developed from a rather spontaneous idea to create the preliminary program for befriended musicians, the Trio Caro Kiste double bass, consisting of Carolin "Caro" Wendel (* 1985), Axel Garbelmann (impro-theater colleague and co-author of Daniel Stieglitz ' dragons don't exist ) and Harald Bernstein emerged. From the beginning, guest musicians played in the band again and again and reflect the open character since the music project was founded.

In March 2012, the self-published debut album In the vicinity of satisfaction was released . An EP with the title Zwischenhalts was released beforehand in 2011 . The title “ No matter what” from their debut album was listed in the top places of the best songs list of the German-speaking Music Association. The highest ranking was first place in June 2012. Shortly afterwards, the band could be seen at the open-air festival Musikschutzgebiet in Grünhof near Hombergshausen . The album was nominated for the German Record Critics' Prize. Kai Engelke wrote in the music magazine Folker : “By describing herself as a“ dreamy-aggressive singer / songwriter ”, Caro Werner gets to the heart of her personal conception of modern song production. Her emotional singing style - sometimes girlish and naive, sometimes powerful and demanding, casual and fresh, always absolutely precise - explores the possibilities between just anger and deeply felt tenderness with pleasure and imagination, ”and she drew a comparison with Johanna Zeul in connection with it Anna Depenbusch and Dota Kehr . On the occasion of the performance at the Kassler Kulturzentrum Schlachthof in March 2012, Andreas Köthe compared Werner's song in the Hessische / Niedersächsische Allgemeine, stylistically on the axis between Annett Louisan and Element of Crime . In September 2012 the band was awarded the advancement award of the song best list. In the jury said: "Together with their formidable Mitmusikanten, the Dark Wave - bassist Harald Bernstein and the Folk -Multimusiker Axel Garbelmann on cajón , takes Caro Werner a wild propulsive tour de force full of momentum and sprühendem temperament. Werner's singing style as well as her lyrics come across as cheeky and sensitive, wild and tender, full of lightness and power. Elements of swing , folk, jazz , rap and chanson , enriched with a pinch of Balkan groove and a little Caribbean flair , the trio unites with an easy, natural way, everything harmonizes perfectly with each other. Together with the sensual, meaningful texts, a coherent whole is created. CaroKisteKontrabass stand out pleasantly from what is offered every day musically in the established media. ”In 2013, the band took part in the Hessian preliminary decision for the Creole - Global Music Contest in the“ Songs & Chansons ”category and was part of the in the same year Participation of the University of Kassel on Hessentag 2013 on the cultural stage at Opernplatz and at the Rudolstadt Festival . At the beginning of October 2014 the formation could be heard in the Kassler Kreuzkirche . Caro Kiste double bass could also be seen at the anniversary event on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the KulturBahnhof Kassel in autumn 2015.

In 2016, the second studio album Negligent Poetry was financed as part of a Startnext campaign and released at the beginning of 2017 on the DMG Germany label (NiWo-Music). The songs on the album were presented in September 2016 at the Kassler Kulturzentrum Schlachthof. The song will you bring me something? The album was personally recommended by Dieter Kindl on the website of Folker magazine and together with the album on the website of the best songs list in January 2017.
