Charles Judson Wallace (born December 31, 1982 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American - Congolese basketball player . After studying in his home country, Wallace began a professional career in Germany in 2005 . After two seasons with Eisbären Bremerhaven in the basketball league , he moved to Italy , where he played for three years. Wallace has been playing in the Spanish ACB league since 2010 , where he became a citizen of the Republic of the Congo in 2011 in order to fall under less strict restrictions on foreign nationals for " Cotonou foreigners". He was then signed by the Spanish champions FC Barcelona and won the national double and the Spanish Supercup with them in 2012 . In 2013, these successes could be repeated on a national level, before losing to the “eternal” competitor Real Madrid in the final series of the Spanish championship .
Career
Wallace moved in 2001 after graduating from high school in his hometown to study at Princeton University in the city of the same name in New Jersey , where he played for the Tigers college team in the NCAA's Ivy League . At the Tigers , Wallace played with the future German national player Konrad Wysocki , among others . The Tigers won the Conference championship in 2002 and 2004 and lost their first round game in the national finals of the NCAA against the Longhorns of the University of Texas in 2004 .
In 2005 Wallace began a career as a professional basketball player with the German first division promoted Eisbären from Bremerhaven in the basketball league . The promoted team reached an excellent fourth place, which was repeated in the following 2006/07 Bundesliga season . In the play-offs for the championship they lost in 2006 in the semi-final series against the main round first ALBA Berlin and in 2007 in the first round against defending champion RheinEnergie Cologne . In 2007 he moved to the Italian Lega Basket Serie A to Pierrel from Capo d'Orlando in Sicily , which in 2008 in their third first division season reached the play-offs for the championship for the first time, in which they were eliminated in the first round. The club then lost its eligibility to play in the top division at the beginning of the following season for economic reasons and Wallace moved to the traditional club from Treviso , which had previously missed the play-offs. After a fourth place in 2009 and an eighth place in 2010, they lost in the play-offs for the championship against series champion Montepaschi Siena .
Wallace moved in 2010 to the Spanish ACB league for the basketball club on Gran Canaria , with whom he improved to fifth place after the main round. In the 2011 play-offs, however, they were eliminated again in the first round. In the European club competition Eurocup 2010/11 they reached the intermediate round of the 16 best teams. After Wallace had previously tried in vain to get an Albanian passport, he took citizenship of the Republic of the Congo in the summer of 2011 in order to fall under less strict restrictions for foreigners of the states party to the Cotonou Agreement . Wallace was then signed by the Spanish champions FC Barcelona, with whom he defended the national triple of championship, "Copa del Rey" and Supercup in 2012 . In the highest European club competition ULEB Euroleague 2011/12 , however, they were stopped in the final four tournament in the semifinals by the later title winner Olympiacos Piraeus , but were able to win the small final for third place against the dethroned defending champion Panathinaikos Athens . In the 2012/13 season they were able to win the Supercup and the Copa del Rey cup competition again, but this time they lost the final series of the championship in five games against previous runner-up Real Madrid. In the ULEB Euroleague 2012/13 they had also been inferior to Real in the semi-finals and only finished fourth in the Final Four tournament.
For the 2013/14 season Wallace returned to Italy and signed a contract with Euroleague participant EA7 Armani from Milan , with whom he became Italian champion.
