Charlotte Harbor is a census-designated place (CDP) in Charlotte County in the US state of Florida with 3714 inhabitants (as of 2010).
geography
Charlotte Harbor is located on the north bank of the Peace River , just before it flows into Charlotte Harbor . On the south side of the river is the city of Punta Gorda , with which the CDP is connected by two 2 km long bridges of the Tamiami Trail ( US 41 ). The CDP is about 150 km south of Tampa .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the then 3714 inhabitants were distributed over 2736 households. The population density was 663.2 inh / km². 89.3% of the population identified themselves as whites , 6.0% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians and 1.7% as Asian Americans . 1.2% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.6% to several ethnic groups. 5.6% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 58.3% of all households lived in 12.4% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 40.2% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 1.73 people and the average family size was 2.50 people.
11.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 13.9% were 20 to 39 years old, 19.2% were 40 to 59 years old, and 55.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 64 years. 44.5% of the population were male and 55.5% were female.
The median annual income was $ 44,904, with 10.9% of the population living below the poverty line.
In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
