Solana is a census-designated place (CDP) in Charlotte County in the US state of Florida with 742 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Solana borders directly on the city of Punta Gorda in the west . Interstate 75 , US Highway 17 and Florida State Road 35 run through Solana . The place is about 150 km south of Tampa .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the 742 inhabitants at that time were distributed among 442 households. The population density was 168.6 inh / km². 88.1% of the population identified themselves as whites, 7.3% as African American , 0.3% as Indians and 0.8% as Asian Americans . 0.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.3% to several ethnic groups. 3.4% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 40.8% of all households lived in 15.8% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 51.4% of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.13 people and the average family size was 2.77 people.

16.0% of the population were younger than 20 years, 17.8% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 35.6% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 52 years. 51.5% of the population were male and 48.5% were female.

The median annual income was $ 45,667, with 9.6% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 100% of the population.
