The Central Cheetahs (German: the cheetahs ; in connection with the main sponsor also known as Toyota Cheetahs ) are a rugby union team from the South African city of Bloemfontein . You play in the international Pro14 league. The home games are played in the Free State Stadium .
history
Before South Africa took over the franchise model from Australia and New Zealand, the teams had to qualify for the Super 12 in the Currie Cup . The Free State Cheetahs succeeded in this in 1997, the season ended with seventh place.
In April 2005, the South African Federation announced that the Central Cheetahs would be the country’s fifth team in the 14-team championship. They played their first official game on February 10, 2006, when they lost to the Bulls at 18:30 on the first day of the Super 14 . A week later, the first victory came with 27:26 against the Sharks . At the end of the season they got 10th place. In the 2007 season it was enough for 11th place.
