Season 2008 of Super 14

The 2009 season was the fourth edition of Super 14 , a rugby union competition with 14 franchise teams from Australia , New Zealand and South Africa (from 1996 to 2005 the competition was called Super 12).

The season began on February 13, 2009 and ended with the final on May 30, 2009. A total of 94 games were played, with each team playing a round robin against the 13 other teams. There followed two semi-finals and finally the final. The defending champions were the Crusaders from the New Zealand city of Christchurch . The Bulls from the South African capital Pretoria won the title for the second time and defeated the Chiefs in the final with 61:17, which meant the highest final victory in the history of the tournament.
