Super Rugby 2014

The 2015 season marked the fifth edition of Super Rugby , a rugby union competition featuring 15 franchise teams from Australia , New Zealand and South Africa . The season began on February 13, 2015 and ended with the final on July 4, 2015. A total of 125 games were played. The 15 teams were divided into three conferences corresponding to the three countries.

mode

Each team played in the regular season according to the following pattern:

  • Within the conference: Each team plays two games against the four other teams in its conference (one home and one away game).
  • Other conferences: Each team plays home games against four representatives from the other conferences as well as away games against four other representatives (as a result, there is no meeting with one representative from each of the conferences).

The best-placed teams from the three conferences and the next three teams in the overall table ( wildcard ) made it into the play-offs . The two better Conference winners received a bye to the quarterfinals. In this, the third conference winner met the third-placed wildcard team, while the best-placed wildcard team met the second-placed team. This was followed by the semi-finals and finals, with the home right being determined based on the higher placement in the overall table.
