The 2005 season was the tenth edition of Super 12 , a rugby union competition with twelve franchise teams from Australia , New Zealand and South Africa .
A total of 69 games were played, with each team playing a round robin against the eleven other teams. There followed two semi-finals and finally the final. The champions were for the fifth time the Crusaders from the New Zealand city of Christchurch .

- 4 points if you win
- 2 points if there is a tie
- 0 points in the event of a loss (before possible bonus points)
- 1 bonus point for four or more attempts , regardless of the final score
- 1 bonus point if you lose less than seven points
