Christa-Louise Riedel
Christa-Louise Riedel (* 1943 in Görlitz ) is a German visual artist with an international presence in the fields of sculpture, ceramics , painting , collage, drawing and installations. She lives and works in Frankenthal (Palatinate) .
life and work
Christa-Louise Riedel's artistic career began in 1979 with Manfred Kieselbach in Mannheim with sculptural works in clay. From 1980 to 1988 she completed her knowledge of object art and art history in various training centers and art academies . From the mid-1990s onwards, she increasingly expanded the range of materials and topics. Using clay , bronze and stainless steel , she developed the previously naturalistic style into abstraction . Inspired by her stays abroad and related exhibitions, she began increasingly drawing and painting on various papers, canvas and wood from 1999 and from 2003 on plexiglass, acrylic glass and plastic works.
She established a network of contacts with artists in the USA, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Hungary as well as East and West Germany.
In addition to her own artistic work, she has been running her own gallery for contemporary art in Frankenthal (Palatinate) since 1993 . With her program she focuses on the presentation of German and international contemporary art. She also carried out this program in the Deidesheim (Palatinate) branch founded in 1999 . From 1999 to 2008 she participated in international art fairs and biennials. From 2012 to 2014 she was a participant in the European urban space art project . Starting from Görlitz (Museum Kaisertrutz), it had a further 12 stations in Poland, the Czech Republic, West Germany, Portugal, Latvia, Belgium and Switzerland.

Materials such as bronze, plastic, plaster of paris, paper and, above all, stainless steel have played an increasing role since the mid-1990s.
