Life

origin

Uchtländer comes from a middle-class family from Magdeburg. His father was the Brandenburg lieutenant in the garrison artillery in Magdeburg, Christoph Caspar Uchtländer († November 9, 1711). Christian Gottfried Uchtländer was raised to the nobility in 1728 and 1745 respectively .

Military career

In 1701 Uchtländer entered Prussian service and was in the infantry regiment "Margrave Christian Ludwig" No. 7 . In the War of the Spanish Succession he was used in the theaters of war in Germany and Italy. So he took part in the battles at Cassano and Turin . On July 2, 1709 he was promoted to ensign , on October 28, 1712, second lieutenant , in 1718 to prime lieutenant and on January 8, 1742 to lieutenant colonel , and finally in July 1745 to colonel . In the same year Uchtländer was appointed governor of Draheim. In July 1747 he was also appointed commander of Stettin. On June 14, 1752 he was promoted to major general, which, however, meant that he had to give up the position of commander of Stettin to Hans Otto von Treskow . For this he got the infantry regiment "Alt-Jeetze" No. 30 in Anklam on September 23, 1752 . There he died in Anklam in 1755.

Uchtländer also took part in the Pomeranian campaign in 1715/16 . During the First Silesian War he was in command of a grenadier battalion that was formed from grenadiers into the regiments "Margrave Karl" No. 19 and "Bevern" No. 41 . Uchtländer was able to show himself bravely in the battle of Chotusitz . Especially in the battle of Hohenfriedberg he was able to prove his courage again when he withstood the superior Austrian infantry with heavy losses. For this he was rewarded with the order Pour le Mérite and the Amtshauptmannschaft von Draheim.

family

Uchtländer was married to Helene Köhler († 1757), silk merchant's daughter from Stettin . After his death, she received the income from the administration and, from 1755, a widow's pension of 400 Thaler. The marriage resulted in two daughters who outlived their father.
