Christof Kreutzer (born May 26, 1967 in Uerdingen ) is a former German ice hockey player ( defender ) and today's coach and official. His brother Daniel was also a hockey player. Christof Kreutzer was named Trainer of the Year in 2016.
Career
As a player
Christof Kreutzer learned to play ice hockey in the youth of the Düsseldorfer EG . In the 1985/86 season he was used for the first time in the Bundesliga team in Düsseldorf . However, he was not able to assert himself in the first two years on the Rhine and in 1987 moved to SC Solingen for one year and then to EC Ratingen in the 2nd Bundesliga for another season . In the 1989/90 season, the Düsseldorf team brought him back to the Bundesliga, where he played until 1997 and won a total of five championships with DEG ( 1990 , 1991 , 1992 , 1993 , 1996 ).
As a trainer
For several seasons, Christof Kreutzer was the coach of both the 1b team (DEG II) in the Regionalliga NRW and the DNL team of DEG. Since the regional league team was dissolved by an increase in age in the DNL, he then concentrated on the DNL team. After the end of the Metro AG sponsorship , Kreutzer was appointed assistant trainer to DEG. In the 2014/15 season , Kreutzer became the head coach of his club. In the 2014/15 season, Kreutzer had led DEG to the DEL semi-finals, so that the Rhinelander qualified for the Champions Hockey League (CHL). In 2015/16, DEG, under Kreutzer's leadership, was eliminated from the DEL quarter-finals, while the CHL reached the sixteenth-finals. In 2016/17 he missed the playoff participation in the German Ice Hockey League with DEG as eleventh in the main round. He was removed from office after the end of the 2016/17 season.
Since the 2018/19 season Christof Kreutzer has been responsible as head coach for EC Bad Nauheim in the DEL2 . The club had confirmed this at a press conference on April 5, 2018. His contract with the Düsseldorfer EG, which actually ran until April 30, 2019, was terminated by mutual agreement.
On January 7, 2020 it was announced that Kreutzer will fill the position of sporting director at Schwenninger Wild Wings from May 1, 2020 .
