Alexander Weiß (born January 29, 1987 in Titisee-Neustadt ) is a German ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the German Ice Hockey League since 2019 . His brother Daniel is also a hockey player.
Career
Alexander Weiß comes from the offspring of the Schwenninger ERC and later moved to the Eisbären Juniors Berlin , for whom he played his first games in the German junior league in 2002 . In the 2005/06 season white made his debut with the Eisbären Berlin in the DEL. In the same year he was able to win the German championship with the polar bears for the first time , a success that he repeated in 2008 . In this DEL season he also scored more than 30 points for his team for the first time.
Alexander Weiß is a good skater who is particularly noticeable for his good technique and good handling of his stick. With the polar bears he won the German championship again in 2009 .
In October 2009 he received a sponsorship license for the Dresdner Eislöwen , the polar bears' cooperation partner in the 2nd Bundesliga , in order to collect match practice after surviving a concussion in the preparation for the season.
After he was able to win the championship with the polar bears again after the 2010/11 season , but was mostly only used in the fourth row by coach Don Jackson , he accepted an offer from the Kölner Haie due to the better prospects . He was active for five seasons with Cologne, in which he made 299 DEL appearances (151 points - 79 goals, 72 assists). In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons he reached the play-off finals with the Haien , each scoring more than 30 points and in the 2013/14 season he was the club's best- scoring player after Chris Minard after the preliminary round. In the 2015/16 season he reached the play-off semi-finals with his team, in which he scored the important third goal in a 3-2 win in the decisive quarter-final game against his former club Eisbären Berlin.
For the 2016/17 season , White was looking for a new challenge and signed a three-year contract with league rivals Grizzlys Wolfsburg , where he was able to reach the play-off final in his first season, but overall his time with the Wolves was marked by many injuries. After the three years, Weiß moved back to his homeland to the Schwenninger Wild Wings in March 2019 .
International
Alexander Weiß was active for the U20 national team at the 2007 World Cup .
For the German national team he has played more than 30 games so far and took part in the 2014 Ice Hockey World Championships in Belarus for Germany, where he scored a goal in the game against the USA.
