Career

North America

In April 2009 he received an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabers from the National Hockey League , which initially used him in the following two seasons with the Portland Pirates farm team in the American Hockey League . Although the American was only able to play 20 games in the AHL in the 2010/11 season due to a shoulder injury, the Sabers organization extended his contract for another year in the summer of 2011. The attacker also spent the following year mainly in the AHL with the new farm team Rochester Americans , but made his debut for the Sabers in the top division of North America during the season . In March 2012, Turnbull scored his first and so far only NHL goal in the game against the New York Rangers .

Europe

After Turnbull did not receive any offers from the NHL in the summer of 2012, switched to Düsseldorfer EG as a replacement for the injured Colin Long before the start of the 2012/13 season . After a season at DEG, the right-handed player moved to ERC Ingolstadt within the league in May 2013 . Turnbull convinced there in his role as a two-way staker and variable two-way striker and, with eight goals and eight assists in 19 play-off games, made a significant contribution to winning his team's German championship title . After this success he returned to the Düsseldorfer EG in summer 2014 and signed a two-year contract there. In December 2015, Turnbull had his contract with DEG terminated at his own request and justified this with a plan to move abroad. A day later it became known that the attacker would play for Färjestad BK in Svenska Hockeyligan for the remainder of the 2015/16 season .

In April 2016 Turnbull signed a contract with the Kölner Haien from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). After the 2016/17 season , Turnbull terminated his contract in Cologne, which ran until 2018, and switched to the Iserlohn Roosters . In April 2019, the Straubing Tigers announced the engagement of the right- shooter for the 2019/20 season .

After the end of the 2019/20 season , the Schwenninger Wildwings announced the transfer of the striker.
