Mark Alexander Fraser (born September 29, 1986 in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Schwenninger Wild Wings in the German Ice Hockey League since April 2019 .
Career
Fraser began his career as a hockey player with the Kitchener Rangers , for which he was active from 2004 to 2006 in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League . The defender then ended the 2005/06 season with the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League . During his time with the Kitchener Rangers he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the third round as a total of 84th player by the New Jersey Devils , for whom he made his debut in the National Hockey League in the 2006/07 season . Most of the season, however, he spent with New Jersey's new farm team from the American Hockey League, the Lowell Devils . After the left shooter was only for Lowell in the AHL on the ice in the following two years, he was appointed to the 2009/10 season by the New Jersey Devils in their NHL squad.
On December 12, 2011, he was transferred to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Kurtis Foster and Timo Pielmeier, together with Rod Pelley and a seven-round vote in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft . On February 27, 2012, the Californians gave it to the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for Dale Mitchell .
On January 31, 2014, Fraser was given to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for the NHL rights to Teemu Hartikainen and Cam Abney . His contract, which expired in July 2014, was not renewed by the Oilers, so he was now looking for a new employer.
He found this in November 2014 when the Albany Devils from the AHL signed him. After about a month he also signed with the New Jersey Devils from the NHL and from then on changes regularly between the two leagues. After 34 NHL and 18 AHL appearances in the 2014/15 season, his expiring one-year contract was not renewed, so he signed one with the Ottawa Senators in September 2015 . Subsequently, the Edmonton Oilers signed him again in July 2016, but they did not renew his contract after the 2016/17 season. In November 2017, the Canadian TPS Turku from the Finnish Liiga joined.
After a year in Finland and a season at HKm Zvolen , Fraser was signed by the Schwenninger Wild Wings in May 2019 .
