Christopher Bolte

Christopher Bolte (born July 21, 1992 in Bückeburg ) is a German bass player , music producer and composer based in Boston , USA . His main instrument is the electric bass . He can play basses with four, five and six strings , as well as fretless basses . He also plays the acoustic bass and piano among other instruments. He acts as a product manager for Rheingold Music , a family company that produces tube and bass amplifiers , cables , pickups and effects devices by hand.

Live and act

Bolte learned keyboard and later drums as a child . At the age of 11 he learned to use the professional DAW programs Cubase and Reason . At the age of 13 he founded his first band called analogue , which lasted until 2012. After founding the band, Bolte began to learn to play the bass by himself. During his school days at the Adolfinum Bückeburg grammar school , he was awarded the advancement award of the youth composing competition in North Rhine-Westphalia , which was followed by an award for special musical achievements by the Adolfinum. In 2011 he received a scholarship for the international jazz workshop in Erlangen , where he received lessons from Patrick Scales , Romy Camerun and Harald Rüschenbaum . After graduating from high school in 2011, Bolte opened his own recording studio under the name Timbre Recording Studios , in which, in addition to his own projects, he produced numerous national artists. In the same year he began studying jazz music at the Institute for Music at the Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences , where he met singer Natalia Kowalczyk . Bolte and Kowalczyk initially played together in groups with varying line-ups from duo to quintet and founded the Natalia Mateo project in 2013 together with drummer Fabian Ristau, pianist Simon Grote, guitarist Dany Ahmad and trumpeter Gregor Lener .

Mateo's first album You, which was released that same year, is an in-house production of the band, which was mixed and mastered by Bolte . The following year, Mateo was designed by German jazz label ACT under contract taken. Mateo's second album Heart of Darkness , on which singer Tobias Christl also appeared, was released in spring 2015 and was nominated in 2016 for the Echo Jazz in the categories Best Singer (National) and Best Newcomer . At the award ceremony in May 2016, Mateo was awarded the prize for the best newcomer . The third studio album entitled De Profundis was released in spring 2017. Saxophonist Sebastian Gille was a guest soloist on this album . Jazz musician Wolfgang Lackerschmid also acted as co-producer for De Profundis . From 2013 to 2018 Bolte played numerous tours with Natalia Mateo.

From 2015 to 2016, Bolte studied electric bass and music production with a scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston . Here he received lessons from Victor Bailey , Gary Willis , Victor Wooten , John Patitucci and Oscar Stagnaro, among others .

In 2018 he received his bachelor's degree from the Institute for Music at the University of Osnabrück . On May 20th of that year he released his first solo album entitled The Push , which he produced himself. In June of that year he emigrated to the USA, got married and has been based in Boston ever since. Christopher has been working as a music producer under the pseudonym BØLT since September 2018.

Bolte has been working regularly as an artist for various companies since 2012, which present their products at the Frankfurt Music Fair and the NAMM Show in Anaheim . He acts as an advertising medium for the companies Paul Lairat Guitars & Basses, Antelope Audio, Rheingold Music, Flexx Basses, GruvGear, Taurus Amplification, MC Systems, Singular Sound and Pyramid Strings . He also produces audio and video demonstrations for these manufacturers.

Rheingold Music

Bolte has been a product manager for the family company Rheingold Music since 2017 . He works for the company in the areas of marketing , product design , media and product testing. He was instrumental in the development of the BP2 bass preamplifier , B100 bass amplifier and the Kraft3 power supply .

Awards

Bolte received u. a. the advancement award of the youth composing competition 2011, the first award of the BassComposerVoting 2013 in Duisburg, the German Rock & Pop Award 2014 as best bassist of the year and a scholarship from the Berklee College of Music after his audition in 2014. The Natalia Mateo album Heart of Darkness received the Echo Jazz in the category Best Newcomer in 2016 . With the jazz ensemble loos. Extended he won the Study-Up Award of the University of Osnabrück in 2017 .
