Cramon family coat of arms

Cramon or Cremon is the name of a family of the Mecklenburg nobility that still exists today .

origin

The noble family Cramon (also written Cremon or Cremun) is first mentioned in 1245 with the knight Henricus de Cremun, a ministerial of Count Gunzelin II of Schwerin . The parent company of the same name was in Cramon near Malchow . The Cramon can be traced back to Hermann von Cramon (who worked around 1250). The extent to which they gave their name to Cramon , one of the oldest villages in Northwest Mecklenburg , in the Middle Ages is not documented, but it can be assumed. In this context, Friedrich Schlie also refers to a clergyman Franco de Cremun, who in nearby Viecheln under the Schwerin Bishop Berno, together with others, carried out the Christianization of the Abodrites in the area around Schwerin with reference to the Mecklenburg document book .

For the period from 1281 to 1300 a Gottfried von Cremon is documented as councilor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck , who in 1300 took over his property, consisting of the village of Schattin and half of the villages of Wulfsdorf, Blankensee and Beidendorf (all today the Lübeck-St. Jürgen ), sold to the Lübeck Johanniskloster . The family had already become advisable in the patrician imperial city in the 13th century.

Seal and coat of arms of the von Cramon family

Seal of Conrad de Crammon , 1316

The oldest seal of the family of a Konrad von Cramon comes from the year 1316. The coat of arms contained therein is split and shows half a red Katharinenrad in silver on the right , a black bar in red on the left. On the helmet with red and black covers, half a lying bike in front of an open black eagle flight. The black color of the bar can be a traditional mistake, which can stem from the fact that silver was sometimes actually used in colored coats of arms for silver, which can take on a blackish color after oxidation . Other images show the bar in silver, the helmet covers in red and silver.

The secret seal of the years 1351-1371 of the Lübeck bishop Bertram Cremon shows him kneeling with raised hands in prayer under a depiction of Saint Catherine of Alexandria enthroned under a canopy. It clearly shows the veneration of Catherine in the noble family von Cramon already expressed in the family coat of arms by the Katharinenrad.

Members of the von Cramon family

In the registration book of the Dobbertin monastery there are nine entries by daughters of the von Cramon families from Ilow, Lischow and Borkow from the years 1738–1918 for inclusion in the aristocratic women's monastery .

Roschkowitz Castle

In 1897 the Prussian name and coat of arms were united with the von Taubadel family, who originally came from Taupadel in the vicinity of Jena , for the Fideikommissherren on Roschkowitz in the then district of Opole, Bertram von Cramon as von Cramon-Taubadel . Bertram was the heir to his maternal uncle Wilhelm Traugott von Taubadel auf Roschkowitz, now called Roszkowice, a district of Byczyna ( Eng .: Pitschen ).

Well-known members of the von Taubadel family were the Swedish-Weimar major general George Christoph von Taubadel († after 1643) and the Prussian major general Ernst Balthasar Siegmund von Taubadel . The diploma presented in the Neues Palais in Potsdam was linked to the possession of the Fideikommiss Roschkowitz. Hans-Jürgen von Cramon-Taubadel (1901–1985) was a well-known German fighter pilot.
