action

The hit man Chev Chelios wakes up, visibly dazed, to the sound of a telephone ringing. While searching for the phone, he discovers a DVD that says "Fuck You". By playing the DVD he learns that he was knocked down by his adversary Ricky Verona in his own apartment and then poisoned - in revenge for allegedly killing the Chinese triad boss Don Kim. Ricky explains that by injecting the so-called "Beijing cocktail" (a mixture of irreversible beta blockers ) he only has a short time to live. As a result, Chev sped his car across Los Angeles in a panic . On his drive, he notices that his health seems to be improving due to stress. He tries to call Miles, his doctor; but this is currently on the return flight to LA

Chev tries to locate Verona in a bar that is only frequented by African Americans . He messes with several armed men. As the situation calms down, Chev feels his condition worsen again. He realizes that he is apparently better in dangerous situations and begins to provoke the gangsters in the bar, only to then flee again in his car.

Chev drives to his boss Carlito and explains the situation to him. With the attempted murder of Don Kim commissioned by Carlito, he is under enormous pressure from the Chinese and does not want to help Chev. His death would be beneficial to him.

Chev is followed by the police on his way through town. Meanwhile, he gets a call from his doctor. Chev now learns from him what he was injected and that if his adrenaline levels drop, he will die. Miles tells Chev to go to a hospital to get epinephrine .

While Chev is desperately searching for epinephrine, he receives a call from Kaylo, his informant. He tells him where the brother from Verona, who hit him in his apartment, is. Chev drives to the place mentioned and lures the brother outside, where he chops off his hand with a kitchen hatchet and shoots him after a short fight. He now calls Verona with his victim's cell phone and explains with relish that he has just killed his brother. He disposed of the dead man's necklace after it was found to be a valuable family heirloom. Verona wants to kill Chev's girlfriend Eve in revenge.

Chev now makes his way to the hospital, where he does not receive pure epinephrine, but instead has to make do with a nasal spray containing epinephrine and is also hunted by the police. After a chase through the hospital, he finally receives the epinephrine from a doctor whom he threatens. Since he can no longer remember the dose prescribed by his doctor, he mistakenly takes ten instead of two milligrams.

The epinephrine overdose makes Chev run through Los Angeles. With a stolen police motorcycle, he makes his way to the apartment of his friend Eve. Once there, he has to persuade his girlfriend for a long time before she finally sets off with him. Unbeknownst to Eve, he also neutralizes two henchmen from Verona who came to kill him and Eve.

The two now go to Chinatown and go to a pub. Chev confesses to Eve his life as a professional killer and that he didn't even do his last job, the murder of Don Kim, but wants to start a new life with Eve without contract kills. Eve leaves the store excitedly because she thinks his story is a lie. Chev follows her and collapses. For another adrenaline rush, he now wants Eve to have sex with him on the spot, in front of everyone. After a little fight between the two of them, a large crowd of passers-by witnesses a lunchtime. However, when Chev receives a call from Kaylo telling him that he has found Verona, he abruptly says goodbye to Eve and starts walking.

Upon his arrival, he notices that Kaylo was killed on behalf of Carlito, embarrassing the Chev's rampage and his associated media presence. He is told by Carlito's people to "just go to die". When Eve unexpectedly shows up, who wants to know if Chev really lied, a shootout begins from which they can escape after a chase. After this escape, Chev is called again by his doctor who calls him to his practice. There Chev gets a chemical cocktail, and Miles explains to Chev that he is going to die and that his death can only be postponed. Chev asks Miles for enough medicine for an hour. He calls Verona and negotiates a deal: he gets an antidote, and Verona gets his brother's necklace back, which Chev claims to have kept after the murder. A roof of a high-rise building will serve as the meeting point for the handover. He says goodbye to his girlfriend and promises her that he will come back.

There is a showdown on the skyscraper, at which Carlito is also present: Chev did not come alone, but is supported by the henchmen of the gang boss Don Kim, whom he had spared on his last assignment, provided that he went underground for 48 hours . Chev wants to shoot his boss Carlito in revenge for Kaylo's murder, but Verona stabs him in the neck with a syringe with another dose of the Chinese poison and then kills Carlito himself. Verona tries to escape with a helicopter, but Chev manages to get to him Hanging helicopter.

Eventually he pulls Verona out of the helicopter and breaks his neck while falling. In an almost surreally long free fall, Chev calls his girlfriend one last time and argues about his life, calling Eve the crowning glory. In the final scene, Chev hits the roof of a car and is eventually thrown into the street, whereupon he appears to die. However, he blinks one last time, you can still hear his heart beating and his nostrils move.

“High-speed action film, which in my opinion could become THE action film of the year, if not a cult film. An absolute must-see for genre fans! "

- Moviereporter

"Conclusion: Furious speed frenzy, which, despite some lengths and exaggerated stylistic devices, makes every Formula 1 race look like a butter ride."

"Straightforward action film staged in the style of video games with a charismatic lead actor, skilfully set the pace."
