The Državna cesta D1 ( Croatian for 'national road D1') is after the D8 with a length of 426 km the second longest Croatian national road and leads from the Croatian-Slovenian border at Macelj via Krapina , Zaprešić , Zagreb , Karlovac , Slunj , Plitvička jezera , Udbina , Gračac , Knin and Sinj to Split on the Adriatic Sea. It is the most important north-south connection in the country after the A1 motorway .

Route

The route runs between Macelj and Split. The leads through Krapina, Zaprešić, Zagreb, Karlovac, Slunj, Plitvička Jezera, Udbina, Gračac, Knin and Sinj.

history

Younger development

The section between Macelj and Krapina has been relocated since 2004 , as the new A2 motorway is on the D1 route. Thus the new D1 was placed next to the motorway and crosses it with several bridges.

The section between Sinj and Split via Dugopolje (motorway connection A1 ) is z. Currently expanded to four lanes.
