GDR championships in biathlon 1989

The GDR championships in biathlon were held for the 31st time in 1989 . It was the last national championships in the GDR in biathlon. Michael Lohschmidt in the individual and Andreas Heymann in the sprint won their first and only national individual titles in the GDR. Heymann also won with the relay and became double champion. The last season title won the SG Dynamo Zinnwald , it was also the 19th championship title for the Zinnwald.
