GDR championships in biathlon 1962

The GDR biathlon championships were held for the fifth time in 1962 . For the first time, the championship was decided by three runs. The results of the first run were determined within the international competition Finland-Sweden-GDR on January 20th in Zinnwald . The second GDR internal run took place on February 21, the third run was held in Oberhof on February 25 . To determine the final result, the worst result from the three runs was taken from the evaluation. In the final ranking, which was based on a point system, Günter Baake from Oberhof was ahead and became the new GDR champion. His team, the ASK Vorwärts Oberhof won the team championship.
