Infrastructure

Along the main axes of Merseburger Strasse, Damaschkestrasse, Elsa-Brändström-Strasse and Theodor-Neubauer-Strasse, multi-storey residential buildings from the Wilhelminian era to the present can be found in particular. In the south, embedded in the areas delimited by the main axes, there are single-family housing estates built in the 1920s and 1930s, such as the housing association “Eigen Scholle” or the settlement on Langen Feld. A mixture of apartment buildings and single-family houses with the character of a settlement can be found in the so-called “Bunasiedlung” on the east side of Merseburger Strasse.

The northern part of the district is characterized by the large green area of the south cemetery and the former artillery barracks built in the 19th century on Damaschkestrasse and west of Merseburger Strasse, which are used today by various federal authorities. The entrance to the in-house company for work, the Saalekreis job center, is also located on Damaschkestrasse.

The Luther Church, built by Rudolf Ostermaier in 1928/29 in the New Objectivity style, is also part of the city quarter .

To the east of Merseburger Strasse is the site of the Bergmannstrost Clinic for Employers' Liability Insurance Associations . Further eastern areas of the district up to the railway facilities are characterized by commercial and industrial buildings as well as the thermal power station of Stadtwerke Halle on Dieselstrasse. There are two primary schools in the district, the “Ulrich von Hutten” primary school and the Auenschule, as well as six children's facilities, two of which are communal.
