The Gottfried-Keller-Siedlung is a district in the Trotha district of the northern district of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt . In December 2019 it had 1,782 inhabitants.
geography
location
The district is far away from the major traffic routes between the districts of Trotha and Frohe Zukunft in the northern part of the city. The Landrain district connects to the south and the Seeben district to the north . It is named after Gottfried-Keller-Strasse (named after Gottfried Keller ), which crosses the northern part of the district. The Bergschenkenweg crosses these and crosses the district in a north-south direction. A cycle path to the Petersberg in the Saalekreis is the extension to the north . To the south of the quarter are the rhyolite peaks of the Galgenberge . In these there are several old quarries as well as a viewing platform from which you can look south over the city center of Halle.
Residential area
The residential area is characterized by single and multi-family houses with large gardens. In the north it borders on fields . The quarter is embedded in allotment gardens . The sports fields of the SV Rotation Halle e.V. clubs are located in Geschwister-Scholl-Straße. V. and VfL Halle 1896 .

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Siebel Flugzeugwerke maintained an airplane runway in the east of the district. The actual residential development of the Gottfried-Keller-Siedlung originates for the most part in the east from the 1930s and in the west from the 1970s. In the 1980s, some garage spaces were built.

Road traffic
The neighborhood is dominated by smaller residential streets. Larger main roads from Halle lead past the Gottfried-Keller-Siedlung at some distance to the west and east. There are ideas of the city, the south-west at zoos ending Paracelsusstraße to lead further along the train route along the western edge of the neighborhood to the north of Trotha over. A possible route is kept free in the city of Halle's land use plan.
Public transportation
The Halle-Zoo station of the S-Bahn Central Germany is located southwest of the district . From here there are connections to Halle's main train station . Trams run by Hallesche Verkehrs-AG run to the west and east of the district . Bus route 25 (Seeben – Tornau) runs through the Gottfried-Keller-Siedlung itself.
