Heide-Nord / Blumenau is the southern of the two districts in the Lettin district , which in turn is in the west of the city of Halle (Saale) . It is named after the GDR - large housing estate Heide-Nord and the single-family housing estate Blumenau. On December 31, 2019, the district had 5887 inhabitants on an area of 1.633 km².

geography

Heide-Nord / Blumenau is located in the north-west of the city of Halle and consists of the two residential complexes of the prefabricated building area Heide Nord in the north-east and north-west, the single-family housing estate Blumenau in between, and the Heiderandsiedlung in the south, which is separated from the rest by the Hechtgraben . The quarter is bordered by Waldstrasse in the south and Nordstrasse in the east. The northern and western borders are not easy to attach to one object. The Blumenauweg, which connects the locality of Lettin in the north with the Waldstraße, runs through the quarter from north to south . Neighboring districts and neighborhoods are the local recreation area Dölauer Heide in the south, Kröllwitz in the east, the locality Lettin in the north and Dölau in the west.

Heide-Nord / Blumenau has with the Dölauer Heide an extensive local recreation area in the immediate vicinity. To the north of the quarter is the Lunzberge nature reserve and to the east of the quarter the Brandberge nature reserve , both of which contain rhyolite peaks . In the southwest of the quarter there is an area with a pond.

Transport links

The district has no tram connection, even if this was considered in earlier times. Instead, you can reach Heide-Nord with the bus lines 21 and 22 of Halleschen Verkehrs AG in daytime traffic or with line 97 in nighttime traffic. In the land use plan of the city of Halle, however, areas are still reserved for a possible tram route from Kröllwitz via Heide-Nord to Lettin.

history

The area was already settled in the Stone Age, as evidenced by burial mounds in Lettin , as well as menhirs in Dölau (the stone maiden ) and Kröllwitz. In the Dölauer Heide in the south, the Bischofswiese was settled in the Neolithic Age and was the site of prehistoric fortifications of the Baalberg culture (4100–3600 BC) and the Bernburg culture (3300–2800 BC).

At the end of the twenties of the 20th century, today's Heiderandsiedlung was laid out by members of the Stahlhelm . Until the Second World War it was therefore called the Stahlhelmsiedlung. At that time the area of Heide-Nord / Blumenau belonged to the municipality of Lettin.

The Heide-Nord prefabricated building district with its two residential complexes (abbreviated WK with the numbering I and II) was built between 1985 and 1991. First the eastern and later the western residential complex was built. Due to the relocation of the population, it was decided to dismantle it. In the second WW in particular, numerous prefabricated buildings were demolished with subsequent greening, which is intended to increase the attractiveness of the district.

Heide-Nord / Blumenau was a barracks site until 2007. Here in the Dr. Dorothea Erxleben barracks were the reserve hospital group 77 nA (ZSan) and the reserve hospital group 7701 training. stationed. In 2007 these were relocated to Weißenfels under a different name. The barracks were then demolished and, from 2012, single-family houses were built on the site.

On the evening of July 7, 2015, a severe storm hit the district. Roofs were covered and trees were uprooted. Windows were damaged in the Heideschule, among others. Some roads, such as the forest road, were impassable due to the surrounding wood and had to be cleared.

After the extension of the tram from Kröllwitz via Heide-Nord / Blumenau to Lettin had been discussed for years, the city administration of Halle (Saale) is now examining the implementation of this project as part of stage 3 of the tram expansion. In this, local public transport is to be upgraded through renovations and new buildings, so that reliability and thus customer satisfaction are improved. The buses to Heide-Nord / Blumenau were often overloaded during commuter times. Originally, however, a new tram route to Heide-Nord / Blumenau was not under discussion , but rather to the residential area of Heide-Süd . However, this failed due to the resistance of the local residents. After a citizens' dialogue organized by the city in March 2020, the city council will make a fundamental decision on the tram route in the course of 2020.

Development of the population

Demolition of a block at the Fischerring (2014)

The population of Heide-Nord / Blumenau fell sharply until 2010 and stagnated from there. Due to the decline in population, many of the apartment blocks from the GDR era were demolished by 2010 in particular.

education

In Heide-Nord there is the Heide School in WK 1, a publicly sponsored primary school and the Protestant primary school in WK 2, which is privately sponsored, a total of 2 primary schools. There are also several kindergartens in the district.

Shopping

The Heideringpassage with two supermarkets, a pharmacy, fashion shops and snack bars offers shopping opportunities in WK I. The so-called Latvian shopping oasis, LEO for short, was located in WK II until it was closed in early 2014; it was demolished in 2019. In the second WK there is a supermarket from NP.
