The Westliche Neustadt is a district of the Neustadt district in the West district of the city of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt , Germany . In 2019 it had 14,066 inhabitants.
geography
The Westliche Neustadt is one of four districts that today form the Neustadt district . It is located on an area of 2.3 km² in the southwest of the city district West in the city of Halle (Saale) in southern Saxony-Anhalt. From the Northern Neustadt separating the streets to the main road and the Nietlebener road in the northeast of the Southern Neustadt separates the railway line to Nietleben . The transition between the buildings separates them from the village of Nietleben in the north, and the expressway of Bundesstraße 80 separates them from the Neustadt industrial park .
The first socialist newly built buildings of the former city of Halle-Neustadt were in the western Neustadt. These are still standing at the Akener Bogen today. The main roads are the one on the Magistrale in east-west direction, which ends in a roundabout at the Eselsmühle. From there, Weststrasse leads south to the B 80, which is almost completely free of intersections in the area. In the future, the rest of the B 80 should also be free of intersections up to the city limits.
Recreation
The western new town is surrounded by several lakes. These include the Heidesee with swimming pool in Nietleben, the Bruchsee in the northeast, the Steinbruchsee in the southwest and the Angersdorfer Teichen in the south. There is also an outdoor swimming pool at the latter. The lakes were created artificially when lignite, clay and shell limestone were extracted . The children's village park is located in the south. In the center of the residential area there is a small park with a pond. In the east of the district on the main road there is also a swimming pool built in 1967 and renovated in 1997. About one kilometer north is the forest area of the Dölauer Heide with its Stone Age fortifications on the Bischofswiese . In the west, the Neustadt cemetery was created on the area of the district.
Cityscape
The Western Neustadt is mainly built up with prefabricated buildings from the GDR era. In the center is the Eselsmühle, in the vicinity of which there are two high-rise buildings that characterize the image of the district. In the east of the district is the long-drawn-out Block 10 , which was the largest residential building ever built in the GDR.
history
The Western Neustadt was built from 1964 as part of the new planned town of Halle-Neustadt in the German Democratic Republic . After reunification , Halle-Neustadt was incorporated back into Halle (Saale) in 1990 and divided into four new districts. The West New Town is one of them.
Infrastructure
Supraregional traffic routes
In the west, the district is connected to the federal highway 143 . From there you can drive south to the A 38 , further construction to the north in the direction of the A 14 is planned, but has been prevented by NABU Halle for years.
Transportation
The Neustadt district is accessed by several tram lines operated by Halleschen Verkehrs-AG , which are divided into two branches when coming from the east. There are also several city buses that run through the area of the neighborhood. Buses to the Saalekreis and the Mansfeld-Südharz district also stop here. East of the district there are two stops of the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland , with which you can go to Nietleben in one direction and to Halle Hauptbahnhof in the other direction.
schools
There are two primary schools, one secondary school and three special needs schools in Westliche Neustadt.
