In addition to the Trotha location and the Gottfried-Keller-Siedlung, the north industrial area is another district of the Trotha district in the north district of Halle (Saale) in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The district is located north of the Trotha district. It also includes the northern part of Trothaer Straße and the subsequent Magdeburger Chaussee as well as large parts of Köthener Straße. Both roads lead to the northern city limits and further into the community of Petersberg. It is bordered to the east by the Halle-Vienenburg railway line , to the south by Hans-Dittmar-Strasse and An der Saalebahn and to the west by the Saale.

Infrastructure

The northern industrial area has developed into an important industrial location in the city and has been in a phase of restructuring since the 1990s. The most important part of the district is the Saalehafen Halle-Trotha on Brachwitzer Straße , which was built in 1928 in place of the now too small Sophienhafen . It serves primarily as a cargo handling point for container loads (trucks - freight trains) and has become an important location for industrial companies.

The former lignite power station from the years 1924–1926, which is not far away, gave way to the new construction of a more environmentally friendly thermal power station with combined heat and power on the basis of natural gas. A relic of the old power station is the listed administration building on Brachwitzer Strasse.

In particular, along the northern Trothaer Strasse and Magdeburger Chaussee, there are numerous commercial and retail companies as well as supermarkets up to the city exit. In addition to the Nordpassage shopping center, there is also a business park and the State Office for Geology and Mining on Köthener Strasse .

Residential areas belonging to the district, which only make up a small proportion, can be found primarily at the beginning of Brachwitzer Strasse, in Binnenhafenstrasse, Angerstrasse and Hans-Dittmar-Strasse. The Saale School, an integrative comprehensive school, is also located in Hans-Dittmar-Straße, although it is part of the Trotha district.

traffic

The main roads Trothaer Straße / Magdeburger Chaussee (B6) and Köthener Straße run through the quarter. The Brachwitzer Straße branching off to the side leads through a predominantly industrial area into the district of Petersberg (Sennewitz).

The Halle-Trotha train station on Hans-Dittmar-Straße is also located in the area of the district.

Bus routes 25 (Seeben – Tornau) and 35 (Trotha – Franzigmark) run through the north industrial area.
