Danilo Kodela (born January 8, 1979 in Postojna ) is a former Slovenian biathlete .

Danilo Kodela lives and trained in Stari trg pri Ložu . He started for SK Kovinoplastika Lož and was trained by Uroš Velepec . He started biathlon in 1995 and has been a member of the Slovenian national team since 1997. Kodela made his international debut as part of the Biathlon Junior World Championships 1997 in Forni Avoltri , where he was 72nd of the individual. A year later in Jericho the ranks 36 in the individual and 42 in the sprint were added. In 1999 he ran in Pokljuka for the third and last time at a Junior World Championship and came in 46th in the individual and 53rd in the sprint. Until 1999 he started regularly in the European Junior Cup , where he took several podiums and in 1999 he was able to win a mass start race in Jablonec nad Nisou .

His first international championship ran Kodela at the Biathlon European Championships 2001 in Haute-Maurienne , where he was 60th of the sprint and with Jože Poklukar , Matjaž Poklukar and Lucijan Čuk 12th of the relay race. In the 2001/02 season he was in Jablonec with Jože Poklukar, Lucijan Èuk and Gasper Grašiè in a European Cup relay race behind the Norwegian and second in front of the Germans. The best result in an individual race was a seventh place in an individual in the following season in Méribel . 2003 Kodela started again in Forni Avoltri at the European Championships and ran to 24th place in the individual, was 39th of the sprint and 28th of the pursuit. Early in the 2003/04 season he started in Hochfilzen for the first time in the biathlon world cup and was 85 in a sprint. The highlight of the season was his first participation in the 2004 biathlon world championships in Oberhof . The Slovenian was used in the singles and reached 89th place. In the 2004/05 season Kodela reached in Östersund with a 45th place in the pursuit race, his best individual result in the World Cup. It was not until 2006 that Kodela was able to compete again in an international championship at the European championships in Langdorf . In the individual, he finished 45th, was 32nd in the sprint, 40th in the pursuit and with Gregor Brvar , Klemen Lauseger and Jože Poklukar, tenth in relay. In the further course of the season he also took part in the 2006 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Ufa . In the cross-country competitions, he was 17th in the sprint and 14th in the pursuit. He achieved his greatest success by winning the bronze medal behind Maxim Tschudow and Ondřej Moravec in the roller ski sprint. In the pursuit race he fell back to 15th place with nine missed shots. In Antholz 2007 Kodela took part again in the biathlon world championships and was 89th of the individual as well as 19th with Klemen Bauer , Janez Marič and Gregor Brvar in the relay race. Shortly afterwards , the European Championships in Bansko marked the end of a career . In the individual he was 32nd, in the sprint 33rd, in the pursuer 35th and with Peter Dokl , Klemen Lauseger and Janez Ožbolt ninth in the relay race.
