David Alan Basche (born August 25, 1968 in Hartford , Connecticut ) is an American film and stage actor .

Life

Basche was born in Hartford, Connecticut. His first role was in the school production The Adventures of Tom Sawyer , in the sixth grade of West Hartfords Nordfeldt Elementary School . Basche describes himself and his appearance at the time as an angry know-it-all and thus received several leading roles in other school productions. Basche starred in several of the plays shown at the Greater Hartford Jewish Community Center . During his visit to King Philip Middle School , Basche received ten roles in film and television productions; then he went to Hall High School in West Hartford. After that, Basche attended Emerson College . Basche is married to actress Alysia Reiner , whom he met on the production of Shakespeare's What You Want . The two have been parents to a daughter since December 5, 2008. Basche has a tattoo on his left wrist that reads: "There Is No Perfect".

He had in 1999 his first starring role sitcom of Alan Ball , Oh Grow Up aired, of which only twelve episodes. He then played the role of Steven Keats on the NBC sitcom Three Sisters . In 2002 he starred in Steven Soderbergh's Full Frontal alongside David Duchovny , Blair Underwood and Julia Roberts . He flirts with the latter in the film, among other things. In 2005 he played the character Tim in Steven Spielberg's War of the Worlds , the stepfather of Dakota Fanning and Justin Chatwin's characters, the child's father is played by Tom Cruise . In 2006 he played Todd Beamer in Flight 93 , based on the events of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States. Flight 93 of United Airlines was the fourth aircraft that was hijacked that day.

In the television film I'll Believe You , he starred as Dale Sweeney and starred alongside Chris Elliott and Ed Helms . In 2008, he had recurring roles in Lipstick Jungle on NBC as Mike Harness for six episodes and The Starter Wife on USA Network as Kenny Kagan for ten episodes. Lipstick Jungle was canceled after two seasons and The Starter Wife was canceled after the first season. Guest appearances followed in 2010 in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit , White Collar , Criminal Intent - Verbrechen im Visier and The Mentalist .

In the same year he played the role of David in the comedy Sex and the City 2 , which starts the character of Sarah Jessica Parker . In 2011 he appeared as an ESPN commentator in the science fiction film Real Steel , starring Hugh Jackman , and as assistant to Terence Stamp's character in the thriller The Plan , with Matt Damon in the lead role. David Alan Basche is currently in front of the camera for the series The Exes as the divorced dentist Stuart Gardner.

In addition to acting in films and series, he also plays in the theater. With Eli Wallach , Basche achieved a great success with the play Visiting Mr. Green . He embodied the character Ross Gardiner in eight performances a week and that for over a year.

In his private life, he supports charity projects , including for people who have cancer or who suffer from autism .
