The Schwaben Bräu Cup (1988–1990), the Hofbräu Cup (1992–1997) or the Dekra Open (1999–2000) was an international stage race in road cycling . The races were named after the respective main sponsors .

history

The race was held in the region around Stuttgart , the state capital of Baden-Württemberg , Germany . Some of the local clubs, such as RSV Stuttgart-Vaihingen, were temporarily involved in the organization. The organizer of the first two competitions was Winfried Holtmann , who also organized the Coca-Cola Trophy .

The first winner was Bruno Cenghialta from Team Ariostea . The only German winner was Rolf Aldag in 1994. Andreas Kappes had the most podium finishes .

Specialty

In 1995 the entire field of drivers completed the 1st stage of the Hofbräu Cup closed and at a slow speed. All prize money in this day of were widow of Fabio Casartelli donated, which two days earlier on the 15th stage of the Tour de France was killed.
