The German Lyricists Association is the professional association of songwriters in Germany .

The German Lyricist Association goes back to the Association of German Librettists and Song Poets (BdLL), which was founded in 1945 a. a. was founded by Richard Bars . At the beginning of the 1960s, the BdLL called itself the German Text Poet Association (DTV).

The DTV is a registered association based in Munich . The incumbent president is Frank Ramond . After Frank Dostal's sudden death , he was elected at the general meeting on May 22, 2017 in Munich. Tobias Reitz was elected as his deputy .

Club duties

The purpose of the association is to represent the professional interests of German lyricists and to improve the protection of their works at home and abroad. To this end, the association participates in organizations, foundations and committees that deal with the concerns of lyricists. He is involved in the drafting of contracts and other agreements that serve the interests of lyricists or their legal successors - in particular the drafting of standard contracts with composers and publishers. The association also maintains corporate memberships in organizations whose field of activity also includes the protection of lyricists.

The DTV advises its members on legal professional issues. By concluding contracts with like-minded associations abroad, the mutual protection of the interests of the members is facilitated.

Prices

DTV has launched two awards that are given to deserving members:

  • The golden pen for particularly successful work as a lyricist.
  • The DTV badge as an award for people who have made a contribution to German and German-language music regardless of their membership.
