The Bible - Jeremiah (Original title: Jeremiah ) is a television film that tells of the life of the prophet Jeremiah .

action

Jeremiah, the son of the priest Hilkiah, received visions as a child. As the inhabitants of Judah became godless, Jerusalem is on the verge of destruction. It is Jeremiah's job to proclaim this to the people, and it is especially from King Jehoiakim that he receives ridicule and rejection . A few months later, the army of Babylon , led by King Nebuchadnezzar II , encamped in front of the city walls, and a state of siege began for years. Jeremiah, however, does not stop preaching repentance, even when the new King Zidkiah has him thrown in prison.

criticism

"Solidly made, but thoroughly conventional Bible film, which particularly works out the conflict of vocations and embellishes the sparse biographical data in the context of justifiable speculations."
